The Scottish Highlands are a mountainous region encompassing northwest Scotland, and in my opinion was the highlight of my London/Scotland trip. If you’re a fan of hiking majestic mountain ranges, floating mist-covered lochs, or exploring ancient forests, you’ll love the Highlands. I'd recommend a tour with the MacBackpackers, which provides a good range of tours perfect for those with a limited budget, adventurous spirit and if you're generally avoiding having to self-drive. I chose to go with the 5 Day Skye and Highland Fling, which provided a great overview of the Highlands and included overnight stays at Inverness, Isle of Skye and Oban. As I repeatedly say - Isle be back, Skye. Oh yes, don't forget to look out for the photogenic Hairy Coo. Spot the shaggy-looking cow in the gallery below!
